The SOP Development for Startup and Operations Training Course by This course provides a structured approach to developing, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for safe and consistent startup and operational activities. The course focuses on translating operational requirements into clear and practical SOPs, operating manuals, startup procedures, and work instructions that support operational readiness, workforce competency, process control, and reliable day-to-day performance.
As part of the Operations Readiness and Assurance Training courses within the Engineering maintenance and operation category, this programme examines SOP development across commissioning, startup, normal operations, shutdown, maintenance interfaces, emergency situations, and operational handover. Participants learn how to structure procedures, define responsibilities, incorporate safety and quality controls, validate operating steps, and establish document control practices that support efficient and reliable facility operations.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Understand the principles and lifecycle of Standard Operating Procedures.
Develop clear, accurate, and practical SOPs for startup and operational activities.
Structure operating manuals, startup procedures, and work instructions effectively.
Identify critical operational tasks, hazards, controls, and performance requirements.
Align procedures with operational readiness and assurance requirements.
Define roles, responsibilities, approvals, and escalation requirements within SOPs.
Incorporate safety, quality, environmental, and reliability requirements into procedures.
Improve consistency in startup, shutdown, normal operation, and abnormal operations.
Apply verification, validation, review, and document-control techniques.
Establish effective methods for maintaining and continuously improving operational procedures.
