Maritime Business Management Training Course

Running a shipping company well requires more than understanding vessels — it requires understanding capital, cycles, and people, because a fleet is ultimately a very expensive bet on markets that can turn in either direction within a single financial quarter. Maritime Business Management is the discipline that ties those elements together, sitting above commercial and operational detail to determine whether a shipping company survives a downturn or is forced to sell into one. The Maritime Business Management Training Course, is built for professionals responsible for leading shipping companies, not just running their vessels or their charters.

This course treats shipping leadership as a business discipline shaped by finance, economics, and strategy as much as by maritime expertise. Participants explore shipping finance in practical terms — how fleets are financed, how capital structure affects a company's resilience through market cycles, and where financing decisions quietly constrain strategic options years later. The course covers maritime economics at the level a business leader actually needs: understanding supply and demand cycles across shipping segments, and what they mean for fleet investment and disposal timing. Leadership is addressed directly, focused on leading shipping organisations through volatility rather than generic leadership theory, alongside business strategy specific to positioning a shipping company competitively across global markets. Participants leave with a practical, leadership-level understanding of maritime business management they can apply directly to strategic, financial, and organisational decisions.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
